Another work in progress

The reason why I haven't been posting for a while is because I've been working hard on this one picture, yet to be shown. (Believe it or not, I have been working hard, not procrastinating) Tomorrow, it should be finished. It may be my best portrait yet. I definitely have put the most work into it. I'm excited to be done and to finish that other work in progress. Got my PAFA info in the mail. I love looking at it every day. I also ordered my first artist grade oil paints today. The future is looking brighter.

A Work in Progress

Yes, a work in progress. Did this last night. I'm doing it in a sketchbook right now.. just to see if completing my full idea on bristol would be a waste of time and nice paper.
I don't understand why my camera insists on making the white paper look yellow.. but just so you know.. this isn't tinted paper. I wish it were, though.

Figuratively speaking

This is the kind of stuff that I can't go show off to my mom. I'm fearing her reaction when/if we go visit The Academy. The cast hall, which is my dream, would be her worst nightmare. It's filled with wonderful casts of oh-so-many nudes. So perfect for anatomical study. Aaaaah.
The other day, Howard Currie.. the man of my childhood/ a great friend of art, was showing me some things on the computer. Of course, figurative was most of the stuff he showed me, because it's one of the most important you can depict as an artist. So all over the screen, in Levia and Shannon's eyes were naked women and men. Of course, I didn't care.. but it would of been interesting if mom or dad would have come down in curiosity of what me and Mr. Currie were talking about- and then saw that. Ohhhh, hypothedicality can be so colorful.
Anyway.... OBVIOUSLY unfinished. But, I'm still proud of it. I couldn't finish because the sun had gone down... as usual. What's with that, anyway? The whole sun going away and brightening other part of the world's day... doesn't it know that I need about an hour more to draw? Pshaw.

Maybe some more figure stuff tomorrow.. we'll see.

It's been a while. (No, I'm not into Incubus that much.)

It's been a while since I've posted. Yes, I've been drawing. Not so much painting. It's been mainly sketches, which is why I haven't been posting them. I did do something that I am so very proud of. It took me two nights to complete because I had to have lighting that matched.. plus it was just overall very challenging. It's an eggplant... and a banana pepper. I honestly did my best on this one (even though the pepper is ugly). Which is why it's like one of the first things that I've actually been proud of. Now, I can feed my hungry portfolio. I do wish, though, that I had a finer grained paper, rather than medium.. which is what this is on.

For once, I signed it.. even though it turned out bitty.

I plan to do something good tonight.. who knows what that will be. So if I don't post tonight, you have the right to scold me. Also, I will be posting more often.. because I need to.

Day 2 of remedy for my artistic laziness and encouragement of good habits..

Either a painting a day or a drawing a day would be a more realistic habit to follow. I did another painting today; but this time, I decided to challenge myself. I only used the 3 prime colors to mix together and decided to start the habit of mixing with a palette knife for the purpose of treating my brushes nicely for once. So yeah, I only used Perm. Rose, Cad. Yellow Pale Hue, Cerulean Blue Hue and French Ultramarine. All Winton.. oh how I wish I had artist grade paints. Some day.. some day. I actually have dreams where I'm using artist grade paints... it's pretty cool to see what my brain thinks using them will be like.

So yeah.. salt shaker on a mirror, outside. Hence the blue reflection of the sky. More finished than the last one. I started at 5:59 and ended at 7:50.. past sundown.

I encourage critique... especially the harsh stuff. Like.. yes, Elisabeth, you did use nursinghomish colors for this.

Day No. 1

I've decided to sharpen my skills and self discipline by doing a drawing and a painting a day. Until now, it had been a very long time since I had last painted.. I don't think I want to admit how long it was. Besides the fact that I am lazy, reading from PAFA's website that they mainly want to see drawing in the portfolio was a major component in the painting delay. I have been drawing, though. I did not draw today, I only painted. At the time of my inspiration, it was 6:30.. and I had just read that sunset would be at 7:30ish. So, I hadn't started painting until 10 minutes later.
So... here it is. It's obviously not done.. nothing's properly defined. I was painting outside and the sun was escaping. I only regret putting in those eyebrows the way I did (they were rushed.. and the colors were assumed in almost complete darkness). Okay.. enough with the excuses.. here it is:
